Ace Controls Introduces New LOCKED-Series For Linear and Rotational Clamping

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Automation control equipment manufacturer, Ace Controls International has introduced a new range of linear and rotational clamping/braking devices to give design engineers another option to control motion.

Their new LOCKED Series is available in three versions. Type L offers clamping or braking on machine rails and linear slides, Type P is for piston and pneumatic cylinder rods and Type R is for rotary applications. When ordering users need to specify clamping or braking; the exception to this is the Type L Active range which offers both clamping and braking in one model.

The clamping function locks in a solid position for inspection, machining, connection or datum measuring applications. The braking function provides emergency stop protection over a much greater distance than a traditional end position stop.

The LOCKED Series is a great addition to Ace’s other safety products, namely their SCS safety shock absorbers and TUBUS profile dampers. LOCKED products can be used on their own or in addition to ACE’s end stop safety systems.

Ace Controls Industrial Shock Absorber Product Selection Made Easy

Friday, April 9th, 2010

When selecting an industrial shock absorber, more and more, busy design and production engineers want to have product data at the touch of a mouse!

As much as the Ace team are eager to help with your application problems and industrial shock absorber product selection options, we appreciate the value of an engineer’s time and have therefore made selecting the right Ace industrial shock absorber as simple as possible.

By using the two links below, engineers can input their application data to produce an industrial shock absorber product selection and then download CAD files with the additional option of showing any accessories selected.

So, doing it yourself is easy, but we’re still here to help if you want.

Mounting Tips For Gate Gas Springs

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Even though Ace Controls has recently introduced two mounting kits – MKU-19 and MKU-22 – to go with their two gate gas springs. We are often asked to provide advice for the best way to mount our gate gas springs.

The diagram below shows the suggested mounting positions for 90 degree opening of a typical gate using a GSG-22 and GSG-19 fitted with a Gas Spring Length Adapter (GSLA) that comes with every mounting kit.

Each kit comprises a gate gas spring force adjuster tool, mounting brackets and a GSLA, which allows the gas spring to be set to an exact length without the requirement to compress the spring.
